The authenticator start time defines a particular date and time when an activated (software) authenticator can effectively be used for authentication. It is used for delayed activation, this means that OneSpan Authentication Server will not allow the authenticator to be used for authentication until the start time has been reached. Additionally, no offline authentication data can be created for Digipass Authentication for Windows Logon.
Setting the authenticator start time
The authenticator start time is defined when an authenticator is assigned or activated on the (mobile) device during provisioning.
Manual assignment
The start time can be set explicitly during the assignment.
Provisioning
The start time is automatically calculated based on the delayed activation period set in the effective policy, i.e. the current date and time plus the delayed activation period.
The grace period and the start time are both set when the authenticator is assigned to a user. If the grace period ends before the start time is reached, users may end up in a situation where they can neither authenticate using the authenticator nor their static password.
Editing the authenticator start time
You can explicitly set and edit the authenticator start time using SET EXPIRATION in the DIGIPASS Properties tab of the Administration Web Interface.
The authenticator start time can be set for an existing authenticator already assigned to any date and time in the future.
Removing the authenticator start time
The authenticator start time can be cleared manually using SET EXPIRATION in the DIGIPASS Properties tab of the Administration Web Interface.
The authenticator start time is automatically cleared when an authenticator is unassigned.
