Before you can install your OneSpan Authentication Server Virtual Appliance instance, you need to create a new virtual machine (VM) with the VMware Workstation application.
Creating a new virtual machine
To create a new virtual machine (VM)
- Start VMware Workstation and select File > New Virtual Machine.
- Select Custom as the configuration type and click Next to begin.
- On the Virtual Machine Hardware Compatibility page, keep the default settings and click Next.
- On the Guest Operating System Installation page, select the OneSpan Authentication Server Virtual Appliance ISO image file.
- On the Guest Operating System page, select Linux as the operating system. Select Other Linux 2.6.x kernel from the Version list.
- On the Name the Virtual Machine page, type a name for the virtual machine and select the location, where the new virtual machine should be created.
- On the Processor Configuration page, specify the virtual CPUs and processor cores for the VM.
- On the Memory for the Virtual Machine page, specify the amount of memory to be assigned to the VM. The absolute minimum is 1,024 MB. We recommend 2,048 MB or even 4,096 MB for production use.
- On the Network Type page, select the appropriate network connection type.
- On the Select I/O Controller Types page, set SCSI Controller to BusLogic.
- On the Select a Disk page, select Create a new virtual disk.
- On the Select a Disk Type page, set Virtual disk type to IDE.
- On the Specify Disk Capacity page, set the disk size. Make sure that the size is at least 32 GB. We recommend 100 GB for production use.
- On the Specify Disk File page, type a name for the virtual disk.
- Verify your configuration settings and click Finish to create the virtual machine.
