Once a workstation has been connected to OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance, the next step is the first-time configuration of OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance using the Configuration Tool. First-time configuration involves the following:
- Completing the Configuration Wizard.
- Completing the Licensing Wizard.
- Installing the support certificate.
- (OPTIONAL) Completing manual configurations.
- Configuring OneSpan Authentication Server.
For more information about using the OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance Configuration Tool, see Accessing and logging on to the OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance Configuration Tool. The Configuration Wizard is started when a new OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance Configuration Tool is accessed. The wizard guides you through a minimal number of settings. During that procedure, the IP address of OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance is changed to within your network. You can then reset the IP address of the workstation you used to connect to OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance (unless you used the Rescue Tool). When the Configuration Wizard has completed and using the newly configured IP address of the OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance, licensing is necessary before services become available.
Licensing is the process of identifying an issued OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance to the OneSpan Customer Portal to issue a license key to make OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance fully operational. After installation, and before licensing, the OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance Configuration Tool is accessible for configuration and management, but the OneSpan Authentication Server Administration Web Interface and other services will not be available. The licensing procedure is supported by a Licensing Wizard, which is accessible through the OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance Configuration Tool. This wizard guides you through a minimal number of settings (see Licensing Wizard).
For more information about licensing, refer to the OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance Product Guide, Section "Licensing".
The OneSpan Authentication Server setup guides you through the configuration of a master domain, along with an administrator account for that domain. This process also allows you to easily enable and configure HSM and secure auditing. After completing the OneSpan Authentication Server setup, the Administration Web Interface and other services will be available.
Manual configuration in the Configuration Tool is only possible after the Configuration Wizard has been completed. For more information about manual configuration, refer to the OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance Administrator Guide.
Licensing requires access to the OneSpan Customer Portal (https://cp.onespan.com/). However, it is not necessary for the OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance device to have Internet connection, as the required files can be downloaded to another computer and transferred to OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance.
If you want to restore an existing OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance instance, you do not need to complete all the steps outlined above. Instead you can restore the backup version of OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance. For more information about restoring a backup, see Restoring backups.
