On Linux, only the root user can run the Maintenance Wizard (ikconfigwizardgui and ikconfigwizardconsole). Running the Maintenance Wizard requires specific environment variables to be set.
On some versions of Windows, the use of certain OneSpan Authentication Server utilities requires an administrator logon to the OneSpan Authentication Server host. When attempting to run these utilities, you may be prompted to do one of the following:
- Confirm that the utility should be run as an administrator.
- Enter valid administrator credentials for the OneSpan Authentication Server host.
The purpose of both prompts is to elevate your privileges to those required by the utility you are attempting to run. If you fail to do so, the utility will run in an underprivileged state. This will likely prevent the utility from functioning properly.
As such, whenever prompted, you should always elevate your privileges as needed. OneSpan Authentication Server utilities that require administrative privileges include:
- Configuration Utility
- Maintenance Wizard
- Audit Viewer
- MDC Configuration Utility
- ODBC database command-line utility (see ODBC database command-line utility (dpdbadmin))
