Server Discovery

DNS registration

All instances of OneSpan Authentication Server should be registered with the DNS server(s). This will allow Server Discovery to work correctly, if it is enabled.

Configure Server Discovery

Server Discovery is used by Digipass Authentication for Windows Logon to identify the location of the OneSpan Authentication Server instance to be used for authentication.

Server Discovery is configured in the OneSpan Authentication Server Administration Web Interface (in System > Server Configuration > Server Discovery), or the OneSpan Authentication Server Configuration Utility. For more information about configuring Server Discovery, refer to the OneSpan Authentication Server Administrator Guide.

If the connection between the Digipass Authentication for Windows Logon client and OneSpan Authentication Server is lost

If the connection between the Digipass Authentication for Windows Logon client and OneSpan Authentication Server is lost when using Server Discovery, the connection will not be re-established automatically. You need to clear the DNS cache for the connection to be immediately re-established.

Alternatively, you can change the default behavior by modifying a Windows registry setting on the client machine (see support.microsoft.com/EN-US/help/256986 for further information).

To modify the Windows registry setting

1. Locate the following key in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dnscache\Parameters
2. In the Edit menu, select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
3. Enter ServerPriorityTimeLimit.
4. Press Enter.
5. In the Edit menu, select Modify.
6. Enter 0.
7. Click OK.
