If the Stored Password Proxy policy setting is enabled, OneSpan Authentication Server will retrieve the stored static password from the user account. If back-end authentication is required for a logon, the stored static password will be used. If a host system is involved in the process (e.g. Outlook Web Access), the stored static password will be returned to the host system to complete its logon process.
However, if the user types a static password prior to the OTP, the provided static password takes precedence over the stored static password. In that case, the stored static password will not be used for that logon request at all .
- If the Stored Password Proxy policy setting is disabled, the stored static password will not be used for back-end authentication. If back-end authentication is required for a logon, the user will have to type the static password. This is done prior the OTP if an OTP is also used. Similarly, if there is a host system that requires a static password to be returned, the user will have to enter the static password.
