App Shielding offers the Automatic Configuration Update feature. With this feature, you can disable, enable, or otherwise change specific features of App Shielding in live apps. This allows the deployment of a new App Shielding configuration for apps that are already protected with App Shielding without the need to redeploy these apps through the usual distribution channels such as App Store or Google Play.
The following use cases highlight when you might want to use the updatable configuration:
New devices or operating system versions cause problems
A new device or operating system version causes problems with a specific configurable feature in the currently used version of App Shielding. An updatable configuration can be deployed to temporarily disable the conflicting feature until a more permanent solution is put in place.
Updating configuration data
By updating the configuration, you can add new HTTPS server addresses, certificate pinning information, trusted app signers etc.
Too many false positives
A security feature, like root detection, causes too many false positives and needs to be paused for a while.
App security on-demand
The app is suddenly subject to threats whose corresponding security features were originally disabled when the app was first published.
