OneSpan Out-of-Band (OOB) authentication is an additional functionality of the OneSpan Intelligent Adaptive Authentication solution that involves both Intelligent Adaptive Authentication and risk analysis.
For a general overview of Intelligent Adaptive Authentication, refer to Intelligent Adaptive Authentication.
Out-of-Band user login via SMS, email, or voice call can be configured using the Authentication and User Management Service and the Configuration User Interface of the Risk Management component.
When you access the OneSpan Intelligent Adaptive Authentication demo and a new tenant is created, ten Virtual Mobile Authenticators are provided. These ten Virtual Mobile Authenticators can be connected to any of the ten potential users defined per tenant. When a Virtual Mobile Authenticator is provisioned for a user, the OTP can be delivered via different channels. The delivery method of this OTP depends on the channel with which the user is provisioned:
Users provisioned with a mobile number can authenticate with an OTP delivered via SMS.
Users provisioned with an email address can authenticate with an OTP delivered via an email service.
Users provisioned with a landline phone number can authenticate with an OTP delivered via voice call.
