# Deployment overview

## Introduction

A DigipassONE Server deployment consists of one or more Admin nodes and one or more Runtime nodes:

| **Node Type** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| Runtime | The DigipassONE Server and the API Server. Runtime servers process traffic for FIDO operations. These include registration, deregistration, authentication, and transaction confirmation. There can be several Runtime nodes per deployment |
| Admin | The Administration Console component of the system. These servers manage Authentication Server and API Server configuration. There must be at least one Admin node per deployment. > At least one Runtime node must be installed prior to installing an admin node. If there is a single server it can be both a Runtime and Admin node. |
| Command-line Tools | Command-line utilities and tools provided by DigipassONE. |

Prior to installation, you need to select either non-production or production mode installation. These are described in the following sections.
