# Changing the Maximum Number of Log Files

By default, a maximum of 30 nnl.log and 5 nnlgateway.log files are kept before being overwritten.

1. If you are configuring nnl.log, search log4j2-nnl.xml for the RollingFile element pertaining to it. Otherwise, skip this step.

```plaintext
<RollingFile fileName="${sys:catalina.base}/logs/nnl.log"
```

1. To set the maximum number of log files to keep, find the following string in this section.

```plaintext
<DefaultRolloverStrategy
```

Change the max parameter, for example:

```plaintext
<DefaultRolloverStrategy max="12"/>
```
