First-Time Licensing

The licensing procedure includes five steps:

  1. Initiating the Licensing wizard.

When OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance is accessed for the first time after the initial installation (see Installation and configuration), the Configuration Tool displays a warning message that the OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance is not licensed and provides a link to launch the Licensing wizard.

  2. Downloading a system information file that identifies the OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance instance using the Licensing wizard.

The system information file is a text file that contains information specific to the OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance instance, including:

    • The host key, which is specific to the appliance.
    • Configuration key, which is specific to the configuration. This can change for an OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance instance under the following circumstances:

      • The appliance is reset to factory default.
      • Under certain conditions when a backup is restored (see  Backup restore).
    • IP address
    • Product version number
  3. Uploading the system information file to the OneSpan Customer Portal (https://cp.onespan.com/) together with the following information:

    • Maintenance reference (commercial licenses only).
    • Serial number (commercial licenses only).
    • Details of the organization where the appliance is installed.
  4. Downloading a license key file from the OneSpan Customer Portal.
  5. Uploading the license file to the OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance instance through the Licensing wizard.
