# ODBC data stores

OneSpan Authentication Server includes an embedded MariaDB database, which you can use as a data store. You can also use another ODBC-compliant database instead.

OneSpan Authentication Server stores the following information in the ODBC data store:

- User accounts
- Authenticator and authenticator application records
- Authenticator configuration records (policies, components, back-end servers, reports, and report formats)
- OneSpan Authentication Server configuration information

> When you copy, migrate, or back up encrypted database files, ensure that you also back up the encryption key (and/or the optional password key). Otherwise, you will not be able to read the data afterward, as it will be encrypted.
