# Rolling upgrade scenarios

This following topics discuss different environments for common setups with multiple OneSpan Authentication Server instances where rolling upgrades may occur.

Upgrading a server instance requires the following steps:

1. Shut down the OneSpan Authentication Server service.
2. Run the upgrade wizard and modify any changed configuration information.

The upgrade wizard will automatically start the service after successfully upgrading and configuring OneSpan Authentication Server.
