# Testing gateway configurations

The MDC Configuration Utility can also be used to test the validity of a gateway's configuration. To do so, select a gateway definition from the Gateways list of a delivery method and click Test.

Provide a respective test mobile number or email and click Send to send a test one-time password.

To test SMS gateway settings

1. In the SMS delivery tab of the MDC Configuration Utility, click Test on the Gateways tab.
2. Type a valid mobile number in the Mobile field.
3. Click Send.

The Result field displays the test results.

For a detailed log of the SMS gateway test results, consult the MDC trace file (mdcconfiggui.trace), usually located in:
