Figure: Wireless RADIUS components
An authentication service using wireless RADIUS has the following components:
- Supplicant. The device from which a wireless access request originates.
Wireless access point. A wireless network signal transmitter and receiver. The wireless access point must be configured to use one of the following wireless protocols:
- WPA Enterprise
- WPA2 Enterprise
We do not recommend the use of the TKIP encryption algorithm on wireless networks due to inherent security issues. Configure your WAP(s) to use the AES algorithm.
- Authenticator. The device to which the wireless access point passes authentication requests.
