# Viewing audit messages from audit text files

To set up a text file audit source

1. Select File > New Audit Source > Text File.

The New Audit Source – Text File dialog appears (see [New Audit Source – Text File (dialog)](/sec/docs/oas-av-csh-new-audit-source-text-file-dialog-3-28)).
2. Enter a descriptive display name for the audit source within Audit Viewer.
3. Click Add and navigate to the required file(s) to add one or more text audit files.
4. When you have added all required text files to the list, click OK.
