Before you begin

  • Install internet Information Services (IIS) 10 via Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off. On some Windows Server versions, this will launch the Server Manager > Add Roles and Features Wizard.

    Furthermore, ensure to select the following components:

    • Web Server > Application Development > ASP.NET 4.7 (Windows Server 2019)

    • Web Server > Application Development > ASP.NET 4.8 (Windows Server 2022)

    • Web Server > Common HTTP Features > Static Content

Installing the sample website

To install the sample website

  1. Start the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

  2. If you want to use the SDK for 32-bit, enable 32-bit support:

    1. Expand the respective server node in the Connections pane and select Application Pools.

    2. In the Application Pools list, select DefaultAppPool > Advanced Settings.

    3. In the Advanced Settings dialog, set Enable 32-bit Applications to True and click OK.

  3. Expand Sites > Default Web Site in the Connections pane.

  4. Double-click Authentication in the Default Web Site Home pane.

  5. Verify that Anonymous Authentication is enabled.

  6. Extract the OneSpan Authentication Server SDK package and copy the sample site folder – either IdentikeySampleSite (Full SDK) or IdentikeyAuthSampleSite (Authentication SDK) –  to the IIS web app folder, usually C:\Inetpub\wwwroot.

  7. Switch back to Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager and select Default Web Site > Add Application in the Connections pane.

  8. In the Add Application dialog, configure the new application using the SDK installation path as Physical path and DefaultAppPool as Application pool.

  9. Select the new application in the Connections pane. Open Default Document and verify that index.aspx is listed. If it isn’t, create an entry for it (via Add from the right-click context menu).

  10. Open the web.config file in the root of the web directory and set the IP addresses for the primary and backup OneSpan Authentication Server instance, for example:

  11. Enable strong ciphers to allow SSL-secured SOAP communication with OneSpan Authentication Server using the default SSL cipher suite security level, i.e. Very High:

    1. Open the Windows Registry Editor.

    2. Add or modify the following registry key values:

      [HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\v4.0.30319] "SchUseStrongCrypto"=dword:00000001

      [HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\.NETFramework\v4.0.30319] "SchUseStrongCrypto"=dword:00000001
