The Administration Web Interface supports the use of asterisks ('*') as wildcard characters to broaden search results when searching for authenticators or users. You can add a wildcard character at the beginning and/or end of a search term as a placeholder for zero or more characters.
Searching for authenticators
When searching for authenticators you can add wildcard characters before and after the search term to refine the search.
If you enter 1234 in the FIND search field, you will get exactly one authenticator with the serial number of 1234 if found. Otherwise, the search will return no result.
If you enter *1234* in the FIND search field, you will get all authenticators where the serial number contains 1234, such as 0123456789, 1234500000, etc.
If you enter 1234* in the FIND search field, you will get all authenticators where the serial number begins with 1234, such as 1234567890, 1234567891, 1234567892, etc.
If you enter *1234 in the FIND search field, you will get all authenticators where the serial number ends with 1234, such as 0823451234, 2385601234, etc.
Searching for users
The wildcard behavior when searching for users can be configured with the global Wildcards setting. By default, it treats the search term as a partial match pattern and automatically adds wildcard characters before and after it.
If you enter user1 in the FIND search field, you will get all user accounts that contain user1, such as user1, user10, etc., by default. This is the same behavior as searching for *user1*.
