Building Passport app

Prev Next

Prior to customizing Passport App, the initial step is to extract the Passport App project and ensure that it builds successfully in Android Studio.

Building Passport app in Android Studio

  1. Unzip the passport_<version_number>.zip file

  2. Open Android Studio and import the app_passport project gradle file located at <PASSPORT_HOME>/build.gradle

Configuring the App signing keystore

The project is configured to use default.keystore for app signing. The keystore file is located in the <PASSPORT_ROOT>/PassportApp/android-studio/keystores folder. To use a different file, create a new keystore and replace the default.keystore file. To create a new keystore, follow the instructions at Sign your app | Android Studio.

Passport App can use a different keystore file having a different name or location. The following configuration determines the keystore file used for the module <PASSPORT_HOME>/app/build.gradle

signingConfigs {
    debug {
        storeFile file("${rootProject.projectDir}/../keystores/default.keystore")
        storePassword "android"
        keyAlias "androiddebugkey"
        keyPassword "android"
    }
}
  • Build the project in Android Studio by selecting Build > Rebuild Project.

  • Passport App is now ready to be customized.
