What is Tutorial Watch app?

Tutorial Watch App is a target/extension for the Apple Watch in Tutorial App. The following sections describe how to use Tutorial Watch App and its operations.

How do I use Tutorial Watch app?

You must first build Tutorial Watch App from the included Xcode project and source files. You can then install the app on a physical device running watchOS 4.2 or later or run it in the watchOS simulator.

How does Tutorial Watch app work?

There are two ways that Tutorial App works:

• As a standalone application
  For each selected operation, Tutorial Watch App does the following:

  • Sends a request to the Server to receive a request for the selected operation

  • Processes the request by the App SDK and receives the response

  • If it succeeds locally, passes the response to the Server and validates the response

• As an authenticator for your iPhone

  • Run Tutorial App in your iPhone and Tutorial Watch App in your watch.

  • Start operation register, authenticate and transaction in your Phone.

  • Choose Watch Authenticator from the authenticator's list.

  • Confirm operation in your watch.

Building Tutorial Watch app

Before building Tutorial Watch App, ensure that you have the following:

• A Macintosh with macOS 10.12.6 or later

• Xcode 11.0 or later

• An iOS device with iOS 14.0 or later paired with a watchOS device 4.2 or later

To build Tutorial Watch App:

1. Launch Tutorial App in Xcode by double-clicking the TutorialAppPlus.xcodeproj file.

2. Connect an iOS device with a paired watchOS device to your build machine.

3. Select the connected iOS device + watchOS device as the target.

4. Click ► to build and run on the device.

Running Tutorial Watch app

Tutorial Watch App UI is presented as a single screen. You must perform login and registration operations before you can perform subsequent authentication or deregistration operations.

About the App SDK for watchOS

The App SDK for watchOS, which supports Quick Authentication, has the following limitations:

• Only supports Silent authentication

• Only supports the UAF protocol

• Does not allow account selection

• Does not support Adaptive Authentication

• Does not support out-of-band authentication

Configure Tutorial Watch app to use your server

To use your own FIDO server with Tutorial Watch App, you must modify the following values in the TutorialWatchAppPlus Extension/InterfaceController.swift file:

• The definitions for LOGIN_SERVER_URL, REG_SERVER_URL and AUTH_SERVER_URL.
