The Nok Nok S3 Suite supports identity proofing and account recovery through its Adaptive Authentication feature. See How Adaptive Authentication Works.
Identity proofing validates a user's identity by using information such as a combination of document verification, ID verification, and a selfie from the user. For example, an application could prompt a user to send a selfie of themselves and compare it to a copy of the user's passport that was stored on a server. Account Recovery allows a user to regain access to their account when they lose or replace their device or forget their PIN.
Both account recovery and ID proofing can use any of the supported authentication methods when using Adaptive Authentication such as:
Email OTP
SMS OTP
Photo ID (relies on the Netverify ID verification service from Jumio)
FIDO Authentication using built-in authenticators or portable security keys
You can add a custom ID verification method by integrating with a 3rd party service. Contact Nok Nok Support if you wish to do such an integration.
By using Adaptive Authentication, your company can set up authentication policies that enable the user to set up multiple authentication methods including external security keys that support platform authentication through a PIN or biometric. Users can access their account by using a previously registered alternative authenticator such as a security key to authenticate on a replacement device. Customers using an app on more than one device can use Nok Nok's device blessing feature. This enables a user to register a new device using an existing device. This feature is also useful for account recovery.
