Overview of deployment

Introduction

A Nok Nok Authentication Server deployment consists of one or more Admin nodes and one or more Runtime nodes:

Node Type	Description
Runtime	The Nok Nok Authentication Server and the API Server. Runtime servers process traffic for FIDO operations. These include registration, deregistration, authentication, and transaction confirmation. There can be several Runtime nodes per deployment
Admin	The Administration Console component of the system. These servers manage Authentication Server and API Server configuration. There must be at least one Admin node per deployment. At least one Runtime node must be installed prior to installing an admin node. If there is a single server it can be both a Runtime and Admin node.
Command-line Tools	Command-line utilities and tools provided by Nok Nok.

Prior to installation, you need to select either non-production or production mode installation. These are described in the following sections.
