A server component record holds the license key for a specific OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance instance.
When OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance starts, it verifies the server component for the following:
License key. If the license key is missing, invalid, or expired, administrative logons (Configuration Tool, Administration Web Interface) are still allowed for configuration and management purposes, but all other services, such as authentication, will be unavailable. The following items need to be supported in the license key:
- SOAP
- RADIUS
- Authentication
- Signature validation
- License keys can be viewed in the server component record via the SERVERS tab in the Administration Web Interface. For more information about modifying licenses, see First-time licensing.
- Policy. The effective policy to use for SEAL administration logons. The policy will be applied to all administration logons (including live audit connections) for which no administration program component record is found.
A server component record is automatically created for each OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance instance during installation.
The Administration Web Interface (see Administration Web Interface) allows:
- Registering server components
- Managing server components
- Viewing server components
- Adding server components
- Viewing detailed license information
Automatic Server Component Creation
Licensing process
During the licensing process in the OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance Configuration Tool (see OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance Configuration Tool ), a server component record including a valid license is automatically created. Whenever you change the IP address via the Configuration Tool, a new license is mandatory (see Changing the IP address).
Do not modify the policy assigned to the server record as this may cause problems during installation of IIS modules in your setup (see Digipass Authentication Module clients). This setting should only be modified by OneSpan experts.
The old server component is not deleted automatically to allow reusing the old IP address without the need to re-license, since the license is still stored in the server component record.
Replication
A component record is created for each OneSpan Authentication Server Appliance instance in a replication setup. This is automatically configured through the Replication wizard. For more information about replication, see Replication.
