Testing Passport App

Test your customized Passport App using Tutorial Web App and your Authentication Server. In an evaluation installation, Tutorial Web App is automatically installed and configured to work with your Authentication Server. Using Passport, you should be able to successfully register a FIDO authenticator on your device after you sign in using a username and password. Sign out then sign back in using the FIDO authenticator you registered.

If you implemented a web app using the Digipass S3 Web App SDK, you can use that to test with instead of Tutorial Web App.

Registering

Testing registration involves the following steps:

  • Logging on to Tutorial Web App.

  • Displaying a QR code in Tutorial Web App

  • Scanning the QR code with Passport App

  1. Using a desktop browser, open Tutorial Web App. The URL is similar to that shown below
    https://<your domain>/gwtutorial


    Log in with a Username, enter any value of your choice and click Next.

  2. Because this is a new account with no registered authenticators, Tutorial Web App prompts you for a password. For Password, enter the text "noknok" (without quotes), then click Next.

  1. You are signed in and have the option to select different functions. To register an authenticator on your mobile device, click Mobile Device.

  2. Tutorial Web App displays a QR code. Open Passport App and position the mobile device so that the QR code is displayed inside the scanning area.

  3. After the QR code has been scanned and processed, you are prompted to select one of the available authentication methods for registration. You can perform a long tap on a list item to see more info about that authenticator. Tap Biometric.

  4. You are prompted to provide your fingerprint to link it with your FIDO account.

  5. The Register page in Tutorial Web App updates to display the new registration.

You can use your newly registered authenticator for future sign-ins. Log out of Tutorial Web App using the menu in the top left corner.

Authenticating

Authentication involves the following steps:

  • Opening Tutorial Web App

  • Displaying a QR code in Tutorial Web App

  • Scanning the QR code with Passport App

  • Authenticating yourself with the previously registered FIDO authenticator on your mobile device

You must have already registered an authenticator on your mobile device as described in
Registering.

  1. Using a desktop browser, open Tutorial Web App at the following URL:
    https://<your domain>/gwtutorial
    Select Sign in Via Mobile.


  2. Tutorial Web App displays a QR code.

  3. Open Passport App and position the mobile device so that the QR code is displayed inside the scanning area.

  4. After the QR code has been scanned and processed, you are immediately prompted for a fingerprint.


    Since you only have one registered authenticator, Passport prompts you to authenticate with that instead of asking you to select an authenticator from a list.

    If the fingerprint matches and only a single user is registered on the device, the operation successfully completes.

    Once the authentication has successfully completed, Passport closes. Tutorial Web App displays the Register page and allows you to use other functions.
