Step 4. (Optional) Configure the Push Notification Transaction Text

You can specify whether to display static or custom text to the user when a transaction is confirmed with an out-of-band push notification. By default, the client app displays the static string "Approve" for every transaction confirmed through OOB.

Alternatively, your client app can create custom transaction text that includes the user name, transaction details, and other relevant information. Setting the push notification authentication text mode to dynamic directs the Auth Server to use custom text from the client app to prompt the user.

Use either the Admin Console or nnl-mgmt.sh to update the static text or configure the Auth Server to support dynamic transaction confirmation text.

Configure the static transaction text

Using the Admin Console

1. In the Admin Console, login and, if needed, switch to the desired tenant. Navigate to Configuration > Authentication Methods > Out-of-band.

2. Update Push Notification Transaction Text by clicking and editing the blue, underlined text on the same line.

3. Verify that the value for Push Notification Transaction Text Mode is Static. If you need to change its value, use the instructions in the next section.

Using nnl-mgmt.sh

The static transaction confirmation text is stored in a tenant property called oob.transaction.notification.text. Use nnl-mgmt.sh's set properties command to update the value. The example below updates the value for the transaction confirmation text in the Marketing tenant.

./nnl-mgmt.sh properties set -name oob.transaction.notification.text -value "Please verify this transaction" -tenant Marketing

Configure dynamic transaction confirmation text

You can create custom transaction text that includes the user name and other information specific to the user. Setting the push notification transaction text mode to dynamic directs the Auth Server to use custom text from the client app to prompt the user.
